The 1st of june is commemorated as the day Pancasila was born. The commemoration of the birthday of Pancasila or Pancasila day is celebrated across the nation, from school to government institutions, by holding Indonesian flag ceremony.

  Consisting of 5 principles, Pancasila has a long historical record before making it the basis of the Indonesian state. The term Pancasila itself has begun to be known in the 14th century or since the Majapahit era, this is evidenced through a book by Empu Prapanca entitled Negarakertagama. Pancasila itself was ratified on August 18, 1945 at the PPKI session.

 Soekarno had hopes for Pancasila, which was put forward during his speech on the birthday of Pancasila on June 1, 1960. he said :

• “I’m not saying that I created Pancasila. All I did was dig deep into our earth, our own traditions, and I found five beautiful pearls.”
• “I don’t see any other way to unite this nation other than using Pancasila as the basis.”
